96 gti gas tank recall

anyone have any info on this subject? no problems or leaks that i'm aware of to date,got letter from s-d canada. incidentally fuel guage quit working this summer,related? thanks in advance,Trey

No they are not related problems.

Anyone with a leaky gas tank can get a new gas tank for free at any SD dealership.
SD has been sued so many times they give them away for free, including labor to install them. If your dealer doesn't know about it, he is either an idiot or a liar, but SD will take care of it if you call them and ask to have yours tested and replaced if necessary.

Does this just apply to the 96 gti, because my 97 xp is leaking somewhere and for the life of me i cannot find it. I have checked all the lines but i don't have the equipment to pressure test the fuel system, so i was just wondering if the 96 gti is the only recall

I repeat. ANYONE with a leaky gas tank can get it replaced if it is a SD product, recall or not.

If anyone gives you flak, just call customer service and say "we'll see you and Union Carbide Corp. in court".....

I wonder If I could get my crappy fuel sending unit fixed for free..."Geeze when I gave my XP with the leaky tank to you guys the sending unit always worked before,I could always tell how much gas was in my tank".

No, the fuel sender is only covered during the first year of ownership, unless you have an aftermarket warranty that covers it, which most do not.
