96 challenger dess problem. bypass?

There a way i can rewire to bypass the DESS security on my 96 challenger. I tried a new post and when i plug in the lanyard I still get no beeps, so i was told i would most likely need a new dess computer. Is there anyway i can rewire to bypass the security? I just cant dump any more money into this thing. Its a pit! lol

Does it start? Is it just that the system won't beep. What are the actual syptoms?

I plug in the lanyard and it doesnt give any beeps. Normally youd plug in the lanyard and it'd give two beeps stating everything was good to go. It does not beep at all. When the lanyard is on and I try to start it, I get one long beep which from my sea doo book says is a problem with the dess system. They say in the book to try twisting the key on the post or clean saltwater off of it. Well neither of those are the problem. So I tried replacing the lanyard post. That didnt fix the problem. So the mechanic said its probably the dess computer. He hasnt gotten me a price yet but i cant imagine it being cheap as the post alone cost $56! Thats why i was wondering if you can bypass the security somehow.

No you cannot bypass it.

You either have the wrong lanyard, a bad one, or a bad computer, sorry.

AH thats what i was afraid of. I know the lanyard is the correct one, as it worked fine before. And the mechanic said the lanyards rarely go bad that its most likely my computer.

I have observed many more lanyards fail than MPEMs (or DESS computer, as you called it). You need to have a Sea-Doo dealer check out the MPEM with the special programmer supplied to the dealers.

I'll give that a try, I was talking to a mechanic not an actual sea doo dealership. Im crossing my fingers that its the lanyard.
