  • Oil block off.....

When using an oil block-off, is the pump disabled completely? Does the plate replace the pump? What is the correct fuel/oil mixture when using this plate (587 motor)?

  • #2
Yes you must remove the pump. See the article in the Tecah Article section of these forums.

    Mix that 40:1

Thanks guys. I am very impressed with the quick responses.

I am still waiting for an answer on the carb/pump rebuild kit availability for 1990 587 with round carb diaphram cover (six screws and two locator pins in carb-to-cover) and round fuel pump.

If possible, can you address my last post in the 1990 Sea Doo won't start topic?

Thanks again for your assistance and lightning fast responses. You guys are great !!

Those are Mikuni BN carbs, we have the kits for $15 ea.

I'll look for your other post.

1989 and 1990 SD models have "round body" Mikuni carbs with screw in type needles and seats. They have fixed main jets and no fuel pump on the carbs. The externally removable upper jet is an air jet. A single carb model uses a 100 air jet that screws into the body in the same position as does a upper high speed needle adjuster on a later model carb. A twin carb model uses a 110 air jet.

The BN series carbs were introduced in 1991. They are commonly reffered to as "square bodies"...

Why did I get Bill O'Neal respond saying BN series carbs were introduced in 1991 and were the square carbs? Mine is round. Is it a BN 38 or not?

It's BN. The Square are called SBN when it comes to rebuild kits.

My post should have read Super BN (SBN) carbs were introduced on SD watercraft in 1991.......

Sorry for the confusion on my part.
