  • Additional Fuel Filter

I added a clear inline filter to my fuel line on a 97SPX. I added the filter AFTER the SeaDoo fuel filter/bowl assembly at a splice point (apparently added by SeaDoo) in the fuel line that originally had a plastic coupler piece installed in it. From this splice, the line goes to the bottom of the carb (beside the magneto housing).
My quesiton is, after this was installed, I noticed on the top of both carbs fuel lines, that join in a "Y" piece to a line going back to the gas tank baffle assembly. Is this some sort of fuel return line? I hope I installed the in line filter in the correct location.
Also, is there any way to filter the fuel line BEFORE it gets to the fuel selector switch or would that require two filters (one for normal and reserve fuel lines)?

You did put it in the correct line to the carbs. You could put one in each line going from the tank to the selector valve if you wanted to, but I doubt you need it in either. Remember, each filter adds more restriction for the fuel pump to overcome.

The Y'd lines are return lines.

      OK Thanks,
It really seems odd though that the return line is on top and the feed is on the bottom of the carbs.

Really? I thought air travels up in liquid.
