  • 95 EXHAUST MANIFOLD TOP GASKET

I have a 95 seadoo xp with a new motor from SBT. I am having problems with the gasket that is located on top of the exhaust manifold where the tuned pipe is connected. The problem is with water leakage around the gasket. I have an O.E.M gasket and have put Permatex Copper Gasket Sealant on the gasket and torqued the 3 bolts and 1 stud to 18 ft lbs. When the pressure builds it starts spraying water around the gasket. Do I use sealant or not ? What am I doing wrong? P.S I also have a high tone going off moments after starting.

You are using the wrong sealant. You are supposed to use Copper Gasket Treatment, not Sealant. It's a fine spray treatment, not an RTV goo.

Flat sand the two surfaces with sandpaper over a metal block to flatten the two surfaces. They get warped.

I'm not saying this is the right thing to do, but it worked for me.

I found that the recommended ft.lbs would not work....i had to torque it a little more than that.

And i used the correct gasket and copper spray-a-gasket
