How can I test the sensor for my '98 XPL? My fuel guage is not working so I have taken the sensor out of the tank to test it, but am not sure what I need to perform a check. I hooked up a current tester, but did not get a good reading. Does the unit need to be in fuel to get a signal? I moved the unit around (so that the float would be at different spots/magnet sensor) but still no reading.
