  • What is this piece

This picture is from an earlier thread, I have this same ski (98 GTXl) and i am wondering what this (rubber?) gasket looking thing is. I don't recall this coming off when i took my pump off to align my engine/change the pump oil. When i reinstalled the pump, i just put non-hardening silicon sealant around where the pump contacts the hull, after scraping off what seemed like old silicon(black), is this ok? Or is there a gasket that i'm missing here?

    Thanks,

Get a neoprene pump seal from your dealer, that's what it is.

Also note this part was left off on the 98 Diagram. They had to get the part number from a 99 I believe.

1998's did not have rubber pump seals. Only 1999 and later models had them. Your pump has been upgraded to a 1999 model. You need to pull your pump and install the seal. They work excellent.

            I don't get it.
Why did you show us a picture of a part you don't have?

Yes, you can seal it with silicone. It is just messy and harder to pull the pump out later.

i saw that picture in a previous post about a guy rebuilding his pump on the same boat, i had already put the pump back on with the silicon, thinking that that was the way it was done on that boat and because that is what was there before, in the future i will definitely get the neoprene seal, i rode the ski this weekend for the first time in a while and it ran perfect, so bill you fixed the carbs all up i'm set, thanks

The seal is for a 1999 model pump or later. It does not fit 1998 model pumps.
