95 daytona locked up??

Hey all, great site!!!

I just aquired 2 95 650 daytona's. One fires right up, the other is locked up somehow. I am in the process of trying to figure out if it is the engine or driveshaft. I can turn the driveshaft about 150 degrees, and then it binds. Not sure if it is the engine or not...The pistons are going up and down, but like I said it only turns over a bit, not all the way around. How can I seperate the driveshaft and engine to see which one is bound up? is there an easier way?? Am I on the right path, any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

On a 95 daytona the best way would be to remove the engine mount bolts and slide the engine forward to diengage the couplers from each other.

Be sure to mark what shims came from where as it will be easier to line up everything when you are done.

Thanks for the reply, but actually a got scammed by an ebayer. After removing the pipe and manifold, I noticed a hole about a 1/2 inch wide in the side of the crankcase. I don't know what I'm gunna do, My wife is gonna be pissed.

I should have a set if they are not repairable by SBT. Send them some pics first to see if they can be repaired first.

You don't have an extra running engine do ya?

Looks like it'll be about 1000 bucks when it's all said and done.

I'm gunna send a pic tonight to see what the welding fee will be.

On a side note, doe anyone have an intake grate for a 95 daytona they want to sell??

I do... have case set and new intake grates both stock and High Performance ones.

i could use a hull or legal reg for a daytona.... let me know if your parting it out i coudl also use a head and exhaust mounting hardware

Is a 770 a direct replacement? would I be able to swap it into the daytona? Could I use the carbs/exhaust from the 640?

I don't see how anything is deceiving - The Std. engine is $699. Where do we advertise you get more than you really do?? No where do we advertise any of the other stuff is included with a Std. If you want the gaskets and oil included, you'll need to upgrade to the Premium package along with the 2-year warranty. Yes shipping is extra, where do we say otherwise? Of course welding is extra - we require and deserve a workable core back in exchange. If you fail to provide that, why shouldn't there be an extra charge?
