  • 95 montego locks up?

Friend has a 95 montego it runs god and strong for maybe 5 min. Then it seemed to lock up. He said motor bogged and died. It wouldn't crank so pulled it in. After we got it on traler it would crank again and start. put it in water to make sure water flow was good and it was. Any idea what might be happening?
It wasn't in the water for a couple of years but said it done this last time he used it.

sounds like you said it yourself, your motor is probably seizing up. What happened before this? Was it ill stored? Did it run out of oil or oil injector pump fail? Did it run lean? More info/history needed.

Don' know much else. Only other problem he said he had was water in the gas. I'm sure it hasn't been stored in the best of conditions. If it is siezing up would it start back and run?

If you still have good compression @150 then you need to do the following. If not then trash it.

Order a SBN rebuild kit, intake gasket set, and a Opt. oil block off kit from SBT then:

        1. Pull the carb and rebuild it. Unless it is full of white chalk then replace it with used one.
        2. Drain the fuel tank and all lines.
        3. Mop out the tank with a rag.
        4. Install new fuel filter and refill the fuel tank.

You may also want to switch to premix at this time since eveything is off and would be easy to do.
