Endcap stator broke off

From the tigershark 1996 monte carlo 770! no damage to any other part of impeller.. but wondering if I took it for a rip to see if it works again would this hurt it? I assume this endcap is there to protect a bearing ? thanx I see that Brown's has these caps but I wanted to mnake sure I get the right one

You need to pull the pump and get all the water out from inside and inspect the bearings to see if they have water behind the seals. But the best thing would be to go ahead and put new bearings, seals and a new end cone on. This should be done every 3-4 years anyway to prevent a major pump failure and big $$$ .
