I'm almost ready to purchase a 1998 Tigershark TS-770L from a coworker that is is good condition. I've been offered 2800.00 for the Tigershark to include trailer. Other that a few bumps and briuses it appears to be in pretty good shape. I just got back from one of our little lakes on the outskirts of town to test drive it. It runs real good. One thing I noticed though is a part throttle sputtering which usually starts at about 10-35% throttle from a start but it really smooths out at throttle settings above that and doesn't occur at speeds at these throttle settings. This thing really likes to open up. It hit 50 mph with no real effort at all which is plenty fast for me. Steering was reponsive and without any quirks that I noticed. Reverse was a different story. It didn't engage and it seemed the linkage was real loose. I was reassured that my friend would tighten it up me me if I deceded to buy it. He is the first owner of this water craft and it seems to have normal wear and tear but has not been abused. He keep it regularly serviced here locally which, I called a few places here in town. There is one place I know of for sure that not only services these PWC's but can also still get parts without any problems at all. Cosmetically, there are a few scuffs on the paint except where there is a 5-6 inch intermitent scratch down to the fiber glass on the right side of the hull below the water line at the bend where the hull turns inward toward the keel. The integrity of the hull is still intact. My cowrker stated this happened a few summers ago and hasn't been a problem. I called that local shop I was taking about and the guy said it could either be fixed in a body shop or with a localized treatment called Marine Tex if I wasn't too concerned on what the finished repair looked like. Is the exposed fiberglass an issue or is it something that really need to be addressed. Anyway, that is the rundown on what I'm looking at. Any input would be appreciated.
