Hi, I just installed my new SBT engine last night. I went ahead and rebuilt the carbs while I was at it, I did not adjust any screws though, just replaced o-rings and cleaned the varnish. While trying to start, my plugs (all new) get soaked, so I went ahead and took them out, turned off the fuel and have turned it over about 20 times, w/ cooloff breaks between. For some reason I'm still getting massive amounts of fuel spray coming out of the cylinders. Any ideas or suggestions, thanks.

Re: Help w/ carbs on Gp 1200
Sounds Like Your Needle Valves Are Bad. This Is Allowing Fuel To Dribble Out Of The Main Circuit Into The Carb Throat. Did You Replace The Needle And Seats? If They Sit Up For A While They Can Go Bad. The Needle Tips Are Rubber And This Will Go Bad Over Time. Also Make Sure Your Pop Off Pressure Is Set Properly. A Weak Spring Will Also Cause This Problem.WATERCRAFT SERVICES. PROVIDING THE RESIDENTS OF HOUSTON AND SURROUNDING AREAS WITH QUALITY WORK ON THEIR PWC AT A FAIR PRICE.

Re: Help w/ carbs on Gp 1200
I didn't replace my needle valves, a friend said that to just clean them up real good. I also used the original springs as well, he said if I didn't mess w/ these I wouldn't have to mess w/ pop-off pressure and I could just put everything back together after replacing all the seals. Guess I need to get new needle valves and adjust pop-off. Thanks for the input.

Yes Get Some New Needle And Seats. You Cant Really Clean Them. The Tips Of Them Is What Goes Bad. They Loose Their Ability To Seat Properly And Will Leak Fuel By When Worn. Also You May Want To Set The Low Speed Adjusters A Little Leaner Because The Gp 12 Carbs Come Adjusted Rich From The Factory. Go About 1/8-1/4 Turn In From The Recommended Settings And I Have Found This To Work Well. I Have 2 Gp 1200 Skis And Have Had This Problem With Both And Seen Many Come Through The Shop With Similar Problems.WATERCRAFT SERVICES. Re: Help w/ carbs on Gp 1200
I called my local Yamaha Dealer and asked them to take a look at my Waverunner carbs. I mentioned that it was a rebuilt from SBT and I had rebuilt the carbs, new battery, new starter, etc. They said that they don't work on SBT rebuilts, something about them being blown-up engines that were thrown back together and they weren't up to OEM specs, and that I would've been better getting my seized engine rebuilt. Anybody else been given this line at their dealerships?

Re: Help w/ carbs on Gp 1200
Those are the scumbag dealers that also refuse to do warranty work on a unit not purcahsed through them. Basically if you didn't waste your money with them to begin with, you can't use them.
If you call in and ask for Ericka our Sales Manager she will be happy to give you a listing of good dealers in your area.SBT Tech Support is here to help with your problems.

Re: Help w/ carbs on Gp 1200
Yes, I've had problems with them in the past. The guy who owned my Waverunner before me had his prop seals replaced by them, only for me to have a bearing failure about 30 hours later due to the seals were in backwards. They've not been very helpful w/ parts as well, it's cheaper and faster to order them myself off the web. It seems if you don't buy new from them they won't give you the time of day. I'll definitely call for some reputable dealers in my area. Thanks.

Stay Away From Dealers. I Have Heard Alot Of Horror Stories From People About Dealers. They Could Careless About Your Needs. All They Have In Mind In The Bottom Line. You Would Be Suprised Some Of The People At These Places That Call Themselves Techs. They Are In My Opinion Not Even Worthy To Work On Skis. And One Other Thing. The Sbt Motor Is A Good Product. I Have 2 In My Personal Skis And Know Several People Running Them. No Problems. Find An Independant Tech To Work On Your Ski. You Will Be Better Off.

Re: Help w/ carbs on Gp 1200
Thanks for the input, I wasn't sure if I was the only one w/ a worthless dealership. Hey, back to my carb issue, I took them out and checked everything, all looks good, and I don't see any problems w/ my needle (no groove) or it's o-ring. However, I did check my high and low screw settings, and they were out of adjustment by 1/4 to 3/4 of a turn each. I talked to Aaron at Tech Support and he said to set them IAW their settings, I'll set them up correctly tonight. Wish me luck.

Re: Help w/ carbs on Gp 1200
N&S cannot be tested by looking at them. Without a proper pop-off pressure gauge, you cannot test or set the pressure. Purchase or borrow one, you cannot tune WHATSOEVER if your N&S are leaking.SBT Tech Support is here to help with your problems.

Re: Help w/ carbs on Gp 1200
I re-assembled my carbs, set them to the correct High and Low settings. One thing I notice is whenever I'm stop cranking the motor over I notice fuel seeping down the farthest back carb's throat, the other two don't do that. Is that because that's the carb closest to the fuel feed line? It doesn't make sense. Any suggestions?
