'95 Waveraider Question

I just noticed that when I nail the throttle from sitting still, it seems like the engine is just reving up and not really giving much force to get going. Like spinning your tires in an automobile. Once it is past 5 mph it takes off, but it takes probably 20 - 30 yards to get to that point. It usually dosn't take that long. Everything is stock and the machine runs great other than this starting to happen. Does anyone have any thoughts to what the problem could be or what will probably eventually go wrong.
