  • Replacing crank seals on the GP1200

I have a 97 GP with 40 original hours and would like to change the crank seals since they are 7 years old. Is this possible without dissassembly of the engine or removing the engine from the hull? If so, please explain the procedure. Thanks

The entire motor must be removed and the cases split to replace the crank seals. Do a pressure test to determine if you indeed need seal replacment. I have seen many motors with many more hrs on them and alot older that hold a leakdown test just fine with origional seals.
