  • Fuel Gauge....??

Fuel gauge always shows empty...tried to short it make the gauge think it was full with the plug at the front of the hull...did not work...But the multimeter did show resistence and thus continuity on the gauge side? Any other trouble shooting suggestions or fixes?

Removed the sensor unit, and removed the float. Put float in cup of gas if sink it's bad and you need to buy a new unit.

I had the same exact symptoms on my '98 GP1200 (fuel gauge alarm kept coming on and the fuel sensor in the tank showed proper resistance per Yamaha specs). I ended up just installing a new sensor and that solved the problem so I think that would be the place to start.

I JUST SIGNED UP TODAY, SO I HOPE I DO THIS RIGHT..ANYWAY, I HAVE
A 98 GP1200 DOING THE SAME THING. I HAVE BEEN READING THE FORUMS
AND IT LOOKS LIKE MOST OF THESE MODELS HAVE BAD FLOATS. I'M WITH
YOU ON YOUR QUESTION. WHAT DO I NEED TO REPLACE?
