Carb Linkage Removal

Yamaha 1200 SUV

Doing a carb rebuild -
How do I remove the linkages from the carbs. It looks like they have a ball joint that is supposed to pop off the linkage from the ball. I did not want to start pulling on them though till I asked here.

As you thought they pop off the ball. I found a rather wide screw driver works well. Gently pry between the carb throttle linkage and linkage rod.

In that slot that is in the plastic at the linkage where it covers to ball? Does that sort of open the "jaw" of the plastic that surrounds the ball to allow the pry off?

I've never used that hole and slot to accomplish popping it off, but that is probably for a special tool the shop uses.

Just put the screw driver under the linkage and pry it off - it pops on and off, no big deal.
