The washers can change the handling of the ski, when the washers are installed in the correct spot, it will often raise the speed of the ski, while lifting the hull for less wetted surface area, but most times at the price of porposing if too many are installed, you have to find the sweet spot.
Heya man :) So could you give a rough ballpark figure on the number of washers to use there? Are we talking 1-3 or something insane like 3-5 washers? Just the front two bolts, right? Might be worth a look!

      Re: 96 WaveRaider handling

Hey mike glad to hear your ski is coming along, David.. you are really going to have to try different amounts.WHY??, because washers are different thicknesses, so in saying that , the normal 5/16 washers (stainless) that you can buy at the hardware store, is about 2 or 3 depending on the water you are going on, do this try 3 on the front ..BUT...make sure you put some on the second set of bolts farther away, there will be a gap when you put 3 and the second set will not line up flush with there mounting surface, most people just crank down on them not realizing they could put a huge stress on those second inserts, 3 made mine porpoise...bad, I had to drop to 2..but like I said it really will depend on a lot of different things, like riding position, water condition, rideplate length, nozzle length...just have fun trying them,

        Re: 96 WaveRaider handling

Its good to see someone else with a 760... I am slowly doing some performance stuff to mine also.. I noticed to the hadnling issues a little that were talked about before.. As in I turn hard I spin hard... I had a stock splash guard on the front of mine also that I removed this past weekend.. I will see how it goes this weekend.. Waiting for the Epoxy and stuff to harden... I am adding aftermarket sponsons, ride plate, extended nozzle, intake grate, impeller, and some other stuff this summer also... as much as it is probably crazy that I am putting that much into it I actually like the boat alot so i figured it was worth trying to fix up and keep it....

The 760 seems to be a reliable engine....

I'm gonna try some of those suggestions;and will post the results..

            If you knew,then you'd know!

              Re: 96 WaveRaider handling

I have a 760 raider as well, I put the Riva package on it and it improved the handling. The kit comes with sponsons, intake grate and groovy ride plate. The intake grate and sponsons helped it true in the corners, be careful with the sponsons - they are adjustable and if you make them to low the ski will turn incredibly sharp! I have noticed that in high speed corners I am able to maintain a higher speed with the kit then when it was stock.

              Hope this helps
