Whats going on here????

My 96 Raider 760 runs textbook perfect,no boggin,no lean spots,no misfiring,etc....Ran it nearly all day last Monday;nary a problem..

Got curious as to what the plugs were looking like and so I removed them..Come to find that the PTO plug was chocolate on the electrode,and the mag side was lighter;a medium tan color to be exact..

Again,it runs marvelous!!!

How long did you run it on the flush hose?

I didn't run it on any flush kit....I ran it on the lake last Monday...Almost all day..


By the way,does the fact that it has a staggered compression have anything to do with it??

Unless you pulled the plugs while going WOT for a min. or more without letting the throttle back off, your readings are meaningless. Read the tech article on reading plugs.

Well,I've come to the conclusion that the mag plug is obviously newer than the pto plug;evedent by the outside appearance(must have fouled a plug before I got it)..

At any rate,I found some pics posted by Tech support,here is what my plugs are looking like:


This is exactly what the mag side looks like!!!





And this is exactly what the PTO side looks like...




And like I said,it runs flawlessly!!!

I am going for a ride Monday..I think I will try a fresh set and follow the directions on reading plugs...

If you want my two cents, change plugs and check once again. Also remeber that on a 760 the rear cylinder has more compresion than forward cylinder so don't go two happy turning the screw as you will killed a sweet ski.

That's exactly what I'm gonna do!!!

In fact,I'm about to leave for a long ride;I'm not touching any adjustments until I try some new plugs first...

And yes,the Raider IS a sweet ride!!!!!!!!

Well,both plugs came out looking the same....

He means just the oppsite....Rear will have less PSI then the front cylinder. They stagger these for additional cooling. You will also notice staggerd jetting as well. He knew what he was talking about....just typed it wrong =0)

Your rear plug is just slighty rich...and as tech said could be the result of many things....so don't get worried to much. Plug readings are only good if you test them correctly......it is variable on how much idle time did you do....etc etc.

I'm not worried too much...It runs too good for anything major to be wrong.I am,however,going to replace the external fuel filter before I ride again next week..
