  • Buyin used ski

    A friend of mine is getting ready to buy a 95 Yamaha, also a kawasaki, I know a few things to look for and where to look, any ideas of what else to look for to see if they are a good buy. Price seems somewhat reasonable, any help would be great, thanx.

    1> compression
    2> fuel for dirt or water
    3> look close at all engine and pump parts for crossion and rust or damage
    4> check steering cables and reverce cables for cracks
    5> what type of oil has been run the skis { you dont want a ski that ran dollar store oil }
    6> check the charging system
    7> run each ski on the water for a min of 30 min and run them hard if somone tells you to take it easy there hiding somthing .
    check grease fittings to see if its ever seen maintaince .
    8>if the ski is said to have VERY LOW hrs and it says it does check the computer to see if it was changed .
    9> pull hard on engine to check for broke engine mounts { if you can brake them there very weak and would brake anyhow }
