  • cooling system problem yamaha xl1200

my 1998 yamaha xl 1200 recently had an SBT motor installed, onstarting the engine I notice no water coming from the seep hole. Water was being pumped in the waverunner bilge. It seems that a hose has blown off or maybe was not attatched correctly(motor was installed by someone else), where should I look and could you include a schematic of the cooling system

    thanks

Re: cooling system problem yamaha xl1200

There is no specific cooling diagram for Yamahas. There are only 5 or so lines. One at both ends of the head, one at the front of the pipe at the top bend, one at the center of the exhaust manifold pointing to the rear, on the bottom. One at the bottom front of the pipe, one at the rear of the pipe. The one at the exhaust manifold is the most commonly forgotten or not tightened.

      Butch -

I would bet that they left the outlet hose off. I have made the same mistake given it is hard to see and access in the tight engine compartment of the XL.

If you have not solved this yet, the hose I am speaking of connects at the top of the exhaust in the right rear section of the engine compartment (if you are standing at the back of the ski)

Let me know how you make out.
