Hello, After installing a SBT 1100 in this ski I'm having a problem with high power operation. The thing idles fine but stalls when adding throttle. I brought it back into the shop and pulled the carbs and fuel pump. I put a kit in the fuel pump and went through all of the carbs. Everything is clean and per the book. I replaced a couple of diphrams that didn't look so good. The pop off pressure is about 62 on all 3 carbs. I checked the fuel pump check valves and found no leaks. I tested the pump on the ski and it does move fuel while cranking. I restricted the end of the hose and it does build up some pressure but I question if it's enough. I didn't change the filter but it didn't have any water in it and I can pour fuel out of the "out " bib and it seems to go right through.
I ran the ski again today and had about the same performance. I found that I could get to high power operation by pulling the choke out for the first 1/4 throttle and then pushing it back in and the ski wouldl take off for about 200 yards then die. If I retard the throttle at high power it will also die. It seems for the world like it runs out of fuel. any thoughts? Fuel pressure? If I hooked a fuel pressure gage to the out line and cranked the engine what kind of pressure would be normal? John BoatWerks LLC
