  • XL 800 revs during flush

I have a new XL800 that I am breaking in according to your tech guide. It has been running great!! When I do the flush procedure according to the manual the engine slowly picks up rpm and keeps on increasing until I shut it down. Any ideas?

That means you either have the low-speed adjusters in too far (too lean), or you have a slight air leak, probably at your carb bases, or intake manifold, or reeds.

If you don't have any hesitation right off the line, I would suspect a leak over mis-adjusted carbs.

See this thread to check for the leak.

Thanks Bryan, I checked that thread. If I do get an increase in rpm with the propane, then will I have to remove the exhaust's expansion chamber(I guess it is) to get at whatever may need to be tightened relating to the intake manifold and carbs. If that's the case I guess I should take it in for the warranty work?
