They are completely different skis. 1997-1999 GP1200, 2000+ GP1200R.

There was no GP1200R until 2000. There was a special edition by Riva, called the GPR1200 that was based on the GP1200, but it was only for racing. I would imagine people are just ignorant about their model if they have a 1997-1999 and say they have an 'R'.

That's about right for stock. 57-58 was about it. It's a tough ski to mod for top-speed, it's really made for low-end and jumping.

Yes i was wondering why my buddies 800 GSX was hanging pretty good with me. I am kinda dissapointed w/ that. But i read your thread about the 70+ mph capability. How much does that run $ approx.?
I don't recall where I said 70+ - that takes a ton of mods. 65 is a lot easier for a couple grand.

If top speed is your thing, yeah. The GP1200 was never meant as a top speed ski. Leave that to the 1300R, Ultra150, RXP, etc.

It's not an 'r version'. As I said they are completely different skis! Two different models with similar names - that's it!
