  • FX140 flush connector

Has anybody changed the flush connector on an FX140/160/HO. I think it is a pain compared to my Honda and the little rivets which hold's it in place are comming loose.I tried to find a connector which has the same size/threads like that little cap, but was not able sofar. Any other ideas?
    Thanks Rbi

    Re: FX140 flush connector

I have not had a problem with the flush kit. I’m surprised that the engineers did not use a hose with a larger ID. My garden hose has a 1/2 inch ID the little flush kit hose ID is probably only 3/8 inch max.
You would think a larger ID would push a larger volume of water thought the cooling system to back flush it.
I still have not gotten an answer to my question of why only one of the pee holes on the side of my 02 FX140 has water running out of it ever after a pinch off the line leading to the rear. Any guesses? :emoticons

        Re: FX140 flush connector

        G'day Guys,

The Starboard side water outlet on the FX's is an over-pressure outlet. It usually starts to run at around 6000rpm as the pump supplies too much water volume and pressure to the engine. You wont see this run on a hose but it does run when out on the water ...this fills that part of the system with salt water (if in salt) and it stays there as its not flushed out with fresh when on the hose.

This probably doesnt hurt anything as most of it is plastic and/or rubber along this line to the RHS outlet. Just in case I flush it when its running on the hose at home after a run in saltwater.

Its fairly easy to do ...just pinch the outlet line in the rear compartment til water runs from the RHS outlet ... I let it run for about 10 seconds which is plenty to flush any saltwater out. If you are not sure which line it is ..its on the floor between the battery and the shaft housing. The outlet for this hose is behind the RHS rubber curtain thats around the pump. It sits forward of the exhaust outlet thats in the pump tunnel ...trace it back to inside rear compartment ...its about 3/4 inch in dia.

Give it a squeeze with fingers to close it off a bit and RHS outlet will flow whilst on flushing hose !!

        Regards
        Anthony

Do you have a picture or diagram?
There are several hoses in this section, I pinched several but still no water.

              Re: FX140 flush connector

Is it OK to spray the garden hose into the intake gate when the motor is running while I’m flushing my 02 FX140?

Thinking this will do a better job of flushing out the impeller trunnel.
