  • how does rec compression affect time between rebuilds pls?

    Brian

If i put in a stock decked head bumping comp to 145psi range, will i still get 400hrs on my engine before rebuild in your opinion? How much degradation..200, 100, 50hrs between rebuilds?
    Your opinion pls.

Thee is no magic number, but any mods you do will somewhat effect longevity. Compression alone will not greatly effect it, however your use and Maint. will.

I would say that if conditions were perfect - you always had enough octane in the gas, for example - you wold see a very small like decrease. I think the greater risk is exposure to sub-standard gas, and your chances of detonation going up. You may run into a very hot day on the lake, some really crappy marina gas, and a long WOT run...that might introduce you to an early rebuild.

Personally unless you can keep a REAL good eye on what you are doing, I'd go slightly lower - may be 140-145 and run 91+ all the time. It will give you a nice bottom end boost but you will have better peice of mind.
