hi ! i want to stop using oil injection on my ski ? can i just quit putting oil in the tank and start premixing before it runs out , or must i do some additional work to stop using the unreliable oil injection system ?

hi ! ive been doing some reading and i feel most people would remove this system due to the fact that yamaha uses a constant volume ooze system ! same volume at idle and same volume at full throttle ! my experiance is that if you idle down a long inlet 4 minutes you will soon see a long screen of misquito smoke behind you !if you premix you get a exact mixture at all rpms and NO smoke !! i like yamaha but they should recall all these systems and come up with reliable system that a high school student did not design ! dont be a lazy urbanite and premix your fuel !!! this was designed for the girls that just did their nails and dont want to get oil on them ! good luck PREMIX FOREVER !blaster800

Re: 96 yamaha waveraider 1100 oil block off ?
Wrong on both counts. Only the older Yamaha skis used fixed ratio - from about 1997+ they have been variable ratio like most others. Also, pre-mix is exactly like a constant ratio pump - just as much smoke on pre-mix as a stock constant ratio pump. They do the exact same thing.SBT Tech Support is here to help with your problems.

That's not true at all. Pumps do sometimes fail, and can be damaged by careless installers on some models.SBT Tech Support is here to help with your problems.

Re: 96 yamaha waveraider 1100 oil block off ?
sorry i may be wrong on one count but not this one !! follow this , and please racers back me up on this one !!! yamahas such as mine ''1996 waveraider 1100'' nice skiby the way ! was built with a ooze flow constant VOLUME oil pump ,this means it flows a constant ''flow volume '' ''c.c..' per a given ammount of time regardless of the rpm '' weather its 7000 or 700 it does not care !!!! that means if the engine is sucking 2 gallons of gasoline per hour at full throttle, it will dump a given amount of cc's of oil down the throat of the carbs ! and if you idle for 1 hour sucking only 3/4 gallon of fuel it will dump the same cc of oil down the throat of the carbs along with the smaller ammount of fuel due to lower rpm ! thats why they call it a slober pump ! now im not trained by yamaha but trust me iv'e worked on almost every type of generator compressor fire truck streetsweeper weedeater and ENGINE in general th know that a slober pump puts out only one volume , why do you think FUEL INJECTION IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN A SLOBBER CARB! '' ITS VERY PRECISE !! just like when you precisly mix 40/1 fuel oil mix it will be 40/1mix at 700 rpm or 70 thousand rpm !!! which could be fun !!:emoticonl now please prove me wrong im open to learning but please cunsult other team members first ! do like a doctor WOULD ! thanks FRANK SAMSONOW .. COLUMBUS OHIO !! i await your response ! this is a valuable forum , i learn a lot from it thanks guys !blaster800

Incorrect. The faster the crank turns the pump, the more volume it pumps, period.Originally posted by frank samsonowsorry i may be wrong on one count but not this one !! follow this , and please racers back me up on this one !!! yamahas such as mine ''1996 waveraider 1100'' nice skiby the way ! was built with a ooze flow constant VOLUME oil pump ,this means it flows a constant ''flow volume '' ''c.c..' per a given ammount of time regardless of the rpm '' weather its 7000 or 700 it does not care !!!! !SBT Tech Support is here to help with your problems.

Re: 96 yamaha waveraider 1100 oil block off ?
I have many friends with the earlier skis,1100s, 760s, 700s and they all have origional oil pumps with hundreds of hours on their skis...They take good care of em and the oil pumps are the least of their worries...believe what you want...faster crank speeds equal more oil....every ski I see with the oil system removed have seized choke shafts....Yamaha routed the oil lines to the top of the carbs in 91 for a reason...warranty carb repairs. I'll say it again...My 26 year old 2 stroke twin Yamaha motorcycle's oil injection system still works fine and it's never been touched.:emoticont

Re: 96 yamaha waveraider 1100 oil block off ?
thanks for the reply , if thats all they saved were their choke plates by moving the system to the top , a little bit of regular maintenance on the owners part would of saved a whole lot of engineering on their part ! like you stated they changed in 1997 to a VARIABLE flow system FOR A REASON ,PRECISE MIXTURES THAT WERE NOT BEING ACHIEVED WITH THE OLD SYSTEM ! but thats just my opinion and i respect everybodys elses opinion also because were all a product of a different enviroment :emoticonn ,im not convinced withyour reasoning yet because my ski stopped smoking when i started mixing ! im a converted mixer from now on ! HAHA ! as long as were both happy thats all that counts '' see you on the lake ! FRANK :emoticonwblaster800

Re: 96 yamaha waveraider 1100 oil block off ?
It's pretty easy Frank...spin your pump on a drill at 500 RPM...then spin it at 5000 RPM - you'll note the obvious flow rate difference - it's not rocket science ;)SBT Tech Support is here to help with your problems.
