Oil on the air filter is NOT normal, these are very sensitive to oil level. It does'nt take much over the full line to foul the air filter on these. It comes from the breather line ,VX's are located different so has not been an issue. Once the air filter is contanminated w/oil it wont flow properly,do as previous poster mentioned and run it without filter to check operation. These filters are very expensive.Good luck.

Let me recap, we went from 'the HO is a POS' to 'the dealer f'd up'. :emoticonn

You original problem might still be a malfunction in the low rpm control.

I just don't understand how you can ride for 1.5h, then it runs rough and has water in the cylinder. Must be an awful long hose they have hooked up. Maybe your description of the fail symptom just wasn't right?
Good luck getting it fixed, personally I trust the FX series a lot more than the dealers 'fixing' it. Hard to find good mechanics these days...let me rephrase..good mechanics that are willing to work for almost nothing and go out of their way to please an upset customer. No potshot at you just a general observation incl. myself.
Now that the dust has settled let us know what the fix is once it is in place and let us know how Yamaha is treating you. At this point i wouldn't touch anything since they have the ball in their court.

          Problem finally resolved!!!!!!!

The first dealer in New Bern NC performed the factory recall on the throttle body.
Did not secure the fuel injector properly on #2 cylinder.
When I would hit a wave hard the fuel injector would loose its connection and cause my problem.

3 times to 2 different deallers to find the problem and 3/4 of the summer.

As I stated before; water in #3 cylinder was not a mechanical error, but human error by dealer #2.

          Thanks for everyones input!!!!!:emoticonw
