XL 1200 exhaust modification

A guy at the boat ramp told me today that if I replaced the exhaust tubing from the waterbox on my 2000 XL1200 with the 750 exhaust tubing, that my ski would run much better. I am already planning on repalcing the Catcon with the D plate, has anyone else replaced the tubing from the waterbox and will it require any carb changes?

you will be a little better on low end but you will lose a little on top end.

Just use the stock tubbing and put a Jet Werks cat-block off plate in. In our testing I find the Jet Werks plate performs better than the R&D.
