Reset Hour Meter?

I called on a 99 GP1200 and the guy told me that he pulls the battery out when he stores the boat. (3 months at a time) He said that when he does this the hour meter resets? Is this possible? How do I know what hours it really has?

LOL - no, the chronometer (stop watch) resets. The only way to reset that ski is to replace the gauge cluster entirely.

I guess I'll have to go look at the gauge myself.
