HELP has not started in 2 years

My son has a 1998 yamaha wave venture 700cc and has not started it in two years..It ran great before it was parked under cover.....No salt water ever.

What should we do before we start it...? We have bought a new battery and new plugs and will put them .... But then what?

Run 50:1 through the tank. Thats about it, its more cautious to run extra oil the first tank of the season. Nothing to worry that much about really, may have some carburetor problems, but those cant be determined without starting it.

Spray engine fogging oil into each spark plug hole and rotate the drive shaft by hand.

do not under any circumstance use "strater fluid" like ether or such, you'll blow up. If you need a little boost squirt some gas into the carbs.

If gas has been in the ski for over 2 years, you might want to drain it all and put fresh gas in.

Oh, also ... once you get it running on the 50:1 premix you will need to check that your oil pump is working properly before you switch to regular gas.

I don't know the 760 motor, but it if has down draft carbs, it should be a simple matter of removing the air cleaner while it is running, open the oil valve all the way and give the engine some RPM and you should see oil spitting into the carbs.

Also, check all the oil tubing for cracks, and replace anything that is fatigued or similiar.
