  • xl700 stainless steel broken reeds

One month ago I had some problems in my 99 xl700. The engine lost rpms and starts to smoke through carb 2#. I removed the carbs and reeds, and i saw that 1 stainless steel reed valve petal was gone. I took the PWC to a YAMAHA SERVICE. They removed cilinder head, cilinder and crankcase and they told me they didnīt find the lost reed petal. Pistons, pistons rings, sleeves, conecting rods, crankshaft and bearings are also OK.
    Is it possible ?

Looking forward to hearing from you soon, I remain

I have repaired a couple of skis that did that and I wouldn't believe it unless I had seen it with my own eyes...no damage;)

I see it now and then. The debris goes out the exhaust port if you are lucky.

It is probably laying in the bottom of your muffler now.
