  • Head Bolt Torque

    Hi all,

I have an 98 xl 1200 and am doing a cyclinder exchange with SBT and need to know what the head bolts torque at.
Also, is it common for the oil pump lines to come off the pump while riding?
A friend of mine told me the check vavle in the oil line has trash in it which caused the line to build to much pressure and blow off the oil pump, could he be right? If so can these check valves be cleaned or do I need to replace them?

Thanks in advance for any help

    Re: Head Bolt Torque

You should replace the check valves. Yes lines popping off is a concern - always check your equipment. 11 then 22 ft.lbs. for the head, as it says on it.
