  • 01 GP1200r, What Oil to use

I don't have a manuel for this ski, what oil should be used with this year and is there a big difference between Yamaha Oil and normal TCw-3. I',m sure this subject has come up a million times before, I couldn't find anything with the search.

    THanks,

Its been covered quite a few times, and everyone has thier own preference.

I myself use the Yamalube. It is a synthetic blend.I used to use regular 2 cycle oil until I fried a motor due to it.

The GP1200R; if it still has the catalytic converter, requires the specified no-phosphorus blend Yamalube "2W" oil to avoid plugging up the catalytic converter honeycomb.

If you have installed a "D-Plate" kit, then you can run any high quality oil of your own choice, as the "D-Plate" replaces the catalytic converter.
