  • Help, Hi and Low adjustment for 2000 XL Limited

    Hi,

I am rebuilding the carbs and the previous owner drilled out the seals and adjusted the Hi and Lo screws. I want to make sure they are set to factory.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Aloha!

I'm not sure what the stock settings are but if the Cat has been removed on that machine, then RIVA RACING recommends stock low speed and 1 1/4+/- for the high speed screws.
    Hope this helps!:D

        Thanks heaps.

Yes I put in a D-plate. I am not sure what stock low is, the service manual does not list it because it is supposed to be non-adjustable.

With the D-plate do you think I should re-jet? If so would the hi/lo be different from what Riva recommends?

Think stock needles and seats and springs okay? Any ideas on Pop off?

        Thanks!!!

I've read where the 3/4 throttle point on these machines is set pretty lean to pass EPA emission standards so as long as you have the carbs apart this might be an area to richen but I'm not sure how to do it.

              Hi,

Which tech article is the one you think would be good to read?

RIVA said 1 turn for low and 1.25 for high.

I rebuilt the carbs and they looked clean inside, checked the jetting its 117.5 high and 87.5 low with shiny silver springs and 1.2 needle and seat. This should be all stock only I'm not sure on the springs since someone was in there before and drilled out the high and low screw caps. Pop off tested at 30.

              Installed Solas 12/18 impeller.

Got it all together and ski runs good up to 1/2 throttle but tops out around 30 mph. It had a top end before I worked on it but the bottom was bogging which is why I opened it up. The ski had not been ridden for about a year and I changed all the gas and oil.

Any ideas on the top end?

              Thanks.

                Aloha!

                I think this is the tech link that SBT is refering to;

                http://www.sbtontheweb.com/forum/for...aysprune=&f=30
The top link has the carb re-build guides with pictures. The fifth link down has the stock carb settings for a 1200R, which should be close to our machines. It says the lows are all 1 1/8 but if yours is running good up to 1/2 throttle, I wouldn't mess with those. It sound like you have the highs set to stock except fot the PTO,(rear carb) which should be 1 1/2.
What kind of RPM are you getting at full throttle? Does it make any difference if you start pulling out the choke at full throttle?
                Good luck:emotisun
