Howdy folks... Question on the FX 140's... after coming in from the lake, should we always start up on the trailer for 10-15 seconds after each use and rev to remove the fresh water from the system (per manual), or is that just for marine use?

Re: Remove water from FX-140?
Twice as important if salt water but definately yes even if it is fresh.
Think of it this way. Most manufactures say to rev a few times after flushing with the hose ( fresh water ) to remove excess water, so they certainly want you to do it for fresh or salt.
Modern marine engines have a lot of alloy and plastic parts that might last 20 years with constant water contact. But consider this. Your cylinder walls, crank bearings, crank and various other very expensive parts are made of steel that can rust from fresh or salt water. We often use our ski's and then park them for a week or more. Not blowing the excess water out could be like putting a coule of cups of water next to the engine to create moisture while it sits for a week or more.
Yes, follow the manual and blow the excess water out.*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ *~*
