I recently acquired a 1991 wr500. I got it home, hooked up a battery, and it started & idled. I put it on the water, and it ran ok, but it seemed to lack power. I got it home, and changed the plugs, and had a hard time starting it. I had spark, and was getting fuel. I unhooked the exhaust, and it starts right up, and runs fine. It does seem much more responsive. Do I need to replace the exhaust, or can I blow it out somehow?
