  • core question

I have a 1999 yamaha xl1200 limited. The engine has water damage; as in water got into the engine while it was not running and sat for 2 years causing a lot of corrosion. I think the guy I bought it from stored it with the seats off, spark plugs out, in a garage with a leaky roof. So i'm going to get a new shortblock from sbt, but I want to find out if this water damage will affect my core. The engine still cranks over just fine, but it doesnt have any compression, so it wont start.

    Re: core question

Water/rust is fine - all we care about is broken aluminum, such if a rod went through the case.
