• Fuel Sending Unit Repair

I pulled out the fuel sending gauge for my 1993 Yamaha VXR Pro. The waverunner had been sitting for a long while (currently overhauling). The 6 rubber stops around the C clips for the 3 floats are swollen and need to be replaced. I already verified (after cleaning) that the resistance matches the specs telling me that the sending unit is good. I can't find anywhere a replacement for these rubber stops and it seems to be alot of money to replace an otherwise good sending unit. :D

The rubber stops are needed to get the floats away from the limits of the travel length or it will show empty. Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated....

Thanks!!

you can use the old floats if thay are with in range of specs but if you need to clean them DONT use cleaners like carb cleaner or starter fluid that tends to soften the rubber and for them out of shape so if you need to clean the use windex beleave it or not but make sure thay are completly dry before reinstall

Thanks alot for your suggestion. The floats cleaned up ok. I did have a hard time finding a replacement for the rubber stop (6 of them).
I went to a rubber gasket maker in town and they punched them out for me. I had to cut the groove for the c-clips with a dremel and a sanding disc.

I still can't believe that they don't make a kit for this..I guess they make more money selling the whole unit.
