89 yamaha waverider

i just picked up an 89 waverider, unfortunatly the engine is shot and has to be replaced, it has a wr500f now. and from what i have seen theres not to many mods for that engine. so my question is what can i fit in this thing that will give me a little more room for upgrades.

also if anyone can point me in the direction of some good info on what one would like to do to make a monster out of a ski :)

You can not swap the block for anything else in a 500.
