  • Converting oil injection to pre-mix

I have a 96 Yamaha 1100 triple in a Wave Venture and the smoke has finally gotten to me. How would converting to run pre-mix through the gas tank affect the carbs? I was less than happy to find out that the oil pump was a fixed rate pump and that there was not much I could do about it except cough and smoke everyone else out. I'm routing the oil pump output hose back to the oil tank for recirculation by way of a barb installed into the oil tank.

Sorry, but you have no options. Pre-mix is the exact same thing as a fixed ratio pump - it's going to be exactly the same amount of smoke. The only thing you can do to lessen it is use a good synthetic oil.

      Thanks for the quick reply.

I should explain further. The problem with the smoke does not happen when I'm riding or on the power. It's more of a problem when at idle and in no wake zones.

        Which is 100% normal.
