Hi, I'm fairly new here. Great site. I own a '99 GP1200, was riding last week and it just died. I checked everything, fuel, spark, etc. What I came up w/ is that there is power getting to the three coils but no spark at any plug wire. Is there anything in common that would prevent voltage to all three plugs. I thought that each coil was independent of the others. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Keep ridin'!

THe odds of having power stop at all three coils at the same time are astronomical. I would bet on a bad battery putting out too little voltage, or a bad CDI unit, if you really don't have spark.SBT Tech Support is here to help with your problems.

Thanks for the input, I've checked the wiring from CDI unit to plugs, all looks good IAW service manual. CDI Unit is $300, are those resistance checks pretty accurate? (hate to spend the bucks just for troubleshooting). What voltages would I see during cranking coming from the CDI unit to the coils?

Used stock CDI's are all over, cheap. I even have one for sale for $50! lol
The Ohm readings are often misleading, parts often Ohm out fine but are still bad.SBT Tech Support is here to help with your problems.

You can take your cdi to a local yamaha dealer they have a tester for it ,Dont know what they will charge.Oh you need to ohm out your pick ups Look in your yamaha service manual they have the specs there. You did check all connections to the cdi (right)un plug and plug back in.
