  • starting at unwanted times

We have had a lot of trouble with our 98 GP1200. Even when the killswitch is off, the waverunner tries to start itself. We have disconnected the battery when we cut it off, and when we reconnect the battery, it tries to start. Also, when it tries to start itself the battery gets extremely hot. After the battery is disconnected for two or three hours, it seems to run fine for a while. Someone said it could be solenoid switch, is that possible?

    Re: starting at unwanted times

Yes,the solenoid contacts are most likely stuck together.

If you want to test it,ohm the two large posts with the battery disconnected.

No fix for it,you have to replace it.
