I Have A 99 Xl760 Yamaha And It Is Giving Me A Hard Time Starting. It Will Turn Over Fine, But Will Not Start Until The Display Comes On. Then It Starts Just Fine, And Run All Day. Then It Will Do The Same Thing The Next Day. Does Any One Have An Idle What Is Going On.

Hi, I have a '97 Venture 760. I had the same problem. You can pour raw gas in the carbs, remove the plugs and squirt some gas in or do what I did, I got rid of the choke and replaced it with a primer. It basically squirts gas into the carb throats as you pump it. It was an inexpensive kit (compared to any other yamaha part) made for the mikuni carbs. Five pumps and it starts right up.

If you disconnected the battery and reconnected, make sure to unlock the display and it reads START, otherwise the ski will start, but if you stop it or it dies will not start again because it was in the locked stage, and you have to disconnect the battery and reconnect it to be able to unlock it.
