  • Water in the Oil

What can I do to remove the water from my oil on my 99 Yamaha XL1200pv? I noticed that when I remove my plugs water is present on them and a mechanic that checked it out noticed the water present in the oil also. Do I need to remove the oil reservoir and start over or are the other low money alternatives before assuming that my block is cracked or something like that. Any help is appreciated.

the first thing you need to do is pull the spark plugs and crank the engine to get any water out if present. Most liekely there is not water in your oil reservoir. The water probably got in thru a leaking head, base or exhaust gasket or thru the intake. Check these first but you need to check compression first. It should be 115-130.

But if you DO have water in your tank, you need to remove it, swab it out, and completely drain and then bleed the lines and pump.
