swaped all wires from 62t wiring harness to 61x cdi. everything seemed to fit. does engine have to be running for gauges to work? tried just installing lanyard but gauges are dead. another question what do i do with the larger diameter hose that is coming from pump are to upper original 62t exhuast? 61x exhaust didnt use extra hose. plug it? what did this hose do?

Guage cluster should come on once the engine fires up. If it not might have a bad gauge. Do you know if it worked from the begining? Ok on the exhaust the hoses on a 62T are bit different then 61X but the main are the same they come into the engine on the bottom and go into the exhaust manifold, thats main cooling. There is one on the 62T the goes out to the left side that lets you know the cooling is working on the 61X doesnt have it. You can rigged something out. just remember the hose on the bottom going into the exhaust manifold same side of the starter is the main cooling water and goes into engine all others go out from the engine. So if you are refering to the thick one that has a ninety degree bend that goes out by the sprak plugs and run back to the exhaust near the pump that is out from the exhaust, just plug it.
