  • 04' FX High Output vs. 04' GTX 4-TECH Supercharged?

    Hey All,
Had my heart set on the 04' Sea Doo GTX 4-Tech Supercharged until a friend of mine told me about the Yamaha's with the four year warranty. Been looking at the Sea Doo's for awhile and not really that familiar with the Yamaha line. Got a great deal on the FX High output if I'm willing to bite the hook this Friday. What do you think? Should I go for the Yamaha, just want some input. Thanks.

Search for a couple long reviews of the fx-140 and 4tec here on the forums, they give good indications of riding charactoristics.

The 4tec SC will beat an FX140HO all around, but only by a few MPH. It's really up to you as far as ergonomics and the deal you can get - either are fantastic skis mechanically speaking.

Thanks! My other ski is a 2 cycle, and I pre mix the gas in the can. I've got 5 or 6 cans that I've been using. Would it be advisable to purchase new gas cans that haven't had the 2 cycle Synthetic Sea Doo oil poured directly into them? Just worried about messing up a new 4 stroke.

As long a the can is empty, that's fine. A tiny bit of residue doesn't hurt anything.

For what its worth the Cruiser HO won the Watercraft World Dream Demo primarily due to
          its rough water abilities

Bought the fx 160 ho two weeks ago ,Man what a machine ,smoth quiet and pretty fast,Not like my triple piper but after break in 63.4 on the gps glass water ,less than half tank of gas.Riva has already released some parts for this ski with more coming ,including a intercooled super charger kit( 71mph)I wonder if Island racing is working on anything for this ski? :D

So, I bit that hook last Friday. That FX High Output is quite a machine. Smooth, quiet and steady power! What a nice step up from my 96 Sea Doo SPX. Keeping that one around for my friends. Thanks for all the input!

After you get it broken in, get a GPS speed of it!

My new regular FX-140 gets 56.7 for comparison - 1/2 tank, trim up, 160 lbs. rider, glass, 80 deg air, 8 hours.

                              A 15F or a SC will eat a 160 for breakfast.
