  • 98' XL1200 left sitting for 5 years

I have 2 yamaha XL1200's that before last summer were sitting for about 5 years. I am unsure if the previous owner did any winterizing. Last summer we cleaned the carbs, replaced the battery and the spark plugs then took them out a couple times. They ran like new at first but eventually started to bog and die. Now they wont stay running, they just turn over abit and die.

any ideas where I should look first?

how old is the fuel and do you put fresh spark plugs in it?

I forgot to say, we drained the fuel and lines, as well as putting on fresh plugs before ever running them.

they ran great the first 2 times we took them out but the next time one started to bog and die then the other did the same soon after that.

Take the spark plugs out and inspect them, how many hours do you think you may have put on them and do they look oily? Remember 2 strokes eat plugs fast.
