bogging down

I just installed my rebuilt engine from sbt. i had the my rebuilt and taper-bored and had my fuel pump rebuilt. I took my jet ski out for the first ride yesterday and it kept boging down. It would take a couple seconds and then it would start goin again and after a couple seconds it would bog down again. I had about a 3/4 tank of gas. Does anyone know what my problem is? it's a 96 yamaha waveraider 1100. thanks

This is going to be completely carb related. Either they are set incorrectly, built incorrectly or tuned incorrectly.

this has been happening since i bought the ski. it usually happens when i would just be low on gas. You dont think it could be that the gas tank isnt ventaling?

Well you kind of left that important info out. Yes it's very possible. To test, when it starts doing that, open and reclose the tank cap and see if it immediately improves.

it would be really hard to do that because my gas cap is at the front of the jetski and water wouldd probbaly get into the gas tank. is there another way of testing this. If i take it out on a calm day and do this and it does work how could i correct this problem? Can i do it by connecting it to my hose and do it in my driveway?

I mean stop, take off the cap to let the pressur equalize, and put it back on...

ok i opened the tank when it boged down and that did nothing so there is no vent problem. When i tried taking off it would not at all, it would just bog down. i used my primer and opened up the throttle a little bit and it would take off fine. After the gas was burned up from the primer it would bog down again. So im thinking there is either something wrong with my jets (something is pkuged up in them) Or there is something wrong with my fuel pump. I put a inline fuel filter in and i was told today that is my problem. Can anyone help me out

Inline filters, especially automotive, can severely limit fuel flow, yes.

rebuild the carbs before you blow the motor . also pull the fuel lines from the tank and check for cracks .

it aint the carbs they were just rebuilt and tapor-bored. the lines are fine too. I couldnt find the problem so i had to take it in to a mechanic. ill keep you all updated on what the problem turns out to be.

Make sure you tell mech everything that the boat does and what you had done to the carbs. It will be very helpful if you provide a phone number of the shop that taper the carbs, he can call to see if they resize your jets. Did the boat come with this carbs? Sounds like you have bought this boat. Can you can contact the last owner, if yes ask him if the jets are stock. The more info you give the mech the quicker he will have you back on the water. ;)

i was talking to a buddy and he said it could be some type of springs inside the carbs. I think he said they were pop off springs? can someone helo me?

Not very familiar with this particular ski,but had a similar problem that was very simple to fix.

Check to make sure you are getting pulsing thru the fuel pump lines when the motor is being turned.It will be the line coming from the manifold near the base of the carb,going to the carb.Check by pulling the plugwires,pulling the hose from the carb,and placing a finger over the end of the hose while turning the motor.If you feel no pressure exchanging,then it is most likely the gasket installed improperly.
