  • '98 GP800 Front Cylinder - No Compression

Bought a rebuilt SBT engine earlier this year (March-ish). I'm premixed, broke the engine in using 40-1 Yamalube, going 30 min idle, 30 min cool down, 30 min 25% varied throttle, 30 min cool down, 50% varied throttle, 30 min cool down, 90% varied throttle for the rest of the 10 gallons. Next tank was varied up to WOT. No leaks at all...

All was well, ran good, PET Tach registered decent RPMs (7200ish), I was going to start tuning the carbs (the carbs were left as is from my previous stock engine which was getting 7490 RPMs), when I had a seizure in the middle of the lake.

Checked compression, back cylinder registers 135, front registers maybe 10. Obviously not good, but wondering why that would happen. Thankfully I bought a 2 year warranty.

SBT, what's the process of getting a new one sent out?
