  • FX140 turns over, wont start

2002 FX140, 128 hrs, has new SBT motor in it with 8 hrs, installed by Cahills Yamaha Tampa. Proper break in was completed, ski has been on water 3 times since engine replacement and has run flawless until today. The ski just died all of a sudden, no warning lights, no noise, it just quit. When I push start button, dash comes on, I get the 2 beeps, engine turns over freely, but will not start. I tried to get a service code by pushing 2 dash buttons but I get nothing. Oil level is where it should be, has 1/2 tank gas and strong battery.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated. I'd like to check out anything that I can before taking it to dealer.
    Just tryin' to help out.

Okay, I pulled the spark plugs. They all have water on them, no wonder it wont run. I can see water in the cylinders when I look down into the spark plug holes. The FX140 was towed about 100 yards very slowly after it died and then placed on trailer.

Did water get into the engine from towing?

Or did water get into engine while riding it?

How do I get the water out of engine?

    Thanks for any help......

Water may have gotten in from the towing as the pick up point is at the intake of the pump. As long as the boat is moving forward and water in moving thru the pump the intake cool down hose will have pressure. So i may have been from the tow, how far did the ski get towed? The best way to get water out is to removed the plugs and turn engine over, drain eng oil run and do it again till all the water is out.
Or you can take engine out and them remove the drain pan, exhuast and then trun eng over getting all the water out. Fill with fresh oil and filter.
You need to get to a mech with YDS to hook up and read the codes and or maintaince to see what is wrong and it does not start.
